Jewel-encrusted Ford Escort Model By Russell Ford

Lord’s passion for cars began when he was a child and he has been making models for more than 20 years. “It’s been a labour of love,” he said. “I’m really proud of it.” The realistic model is based on the Mk1 Escort, which was first manufactured in 1968. Lord said he chose that particular car because it was “an icon of its time”.

Russell Lord, the owner of Lords, is a jeweller with a lifelong love of cars. Recently, he completed a miniature model of a Ford Escort from precious metals. The Escort is a 1:18 scale replica of the 1972 Mk1 model, and it took Lord nearly 1500 hour to complete.

Every detail of the car has been meticulously recreated in miniature, from the grille to the dashboard instruments. Even the tyre treads have been reproduced in fine detail. The result is an exquisite piece of jewellery that captures the essence of the original car.

Lord’s passion for both cars and jewellery is evident in his work, and his unique creations are sure to be treasured by collectors.

The model has a grille logo reading “Lord” instead of “Ford.” After the Hatton Garden safety deposit robbery, Mr. Lord’s son challenged him to finish the model. Mr. Lord had moved his business from London to Essex following the robbery.

Mr. Lord said that finishing the model was a fun way to connect with his son and pass the time during the lockdown. He enjoys working on cars and is glad that his son encouraged him to finish the model. Thanks to his son’s encouragement, Mr. Lord was able to complete the model and create a lasting memento of their father-son bond.
